about

Skátar's second album was released by Grandmothers Records in 2007. "Ghost of the Bollocks to Come" is much more cohesive than it's previous work and marks the entrance of a new vocalist into Skátar, Markús Bjarnason (Sofandi, Markús & The Diversion Sessions, Stroff etc.). On this album the band took much inspiration from fellow Reykjavík contemporaries kimono who inspired them to add more instruments to the mix and throwing in some unpremeditated Comets On Fire, Terry Riley and Neutral Milk Hotel references here and there.

"Ghost of the Bollocks to Come" was chosen the album of the year by The Reykjavík Grapevine and ascending such noteworthy albums as Björk's "Volta", GusGus' "Forever", Mugison's "Mugiboogie" and Seabear's debut "The Ghost That Carried Us Away".

Skátar earned more praise in Iceland local music media and international media outlets such as Rolling Stone Magazine, Plan B Magazine and BBC Radio Wales.

Skátar Reykjavík, Iceland

An oft-quoted cliché goes: “Writing about music is like dancing about architecture.” Now, dancing about architecture is clearly weird and potentially stupid, but it also sounds kind of fun. And it seems weirdly fitting when describing the music of Skátar. ... more
